I am an independent candidate seeking one of the five Maple Ridge seats on the Maple Ridge–Pitt Meadows School District 42 Board of Education. Election Day is October 17, 2026.

MEET KOUROSH
A parent who will ask the questions that matter.
I’m a Maple Ridge parent, MBA graduate, finance and accounting professional, licensed residential builder, Realtor, and former commercial banker. Throughout my career, I have worked directly with financial information—from accounting and bookkeeping to reviewing financial statements, assessing business performance, and preparing detailed commercial lending and deal submissions.
That experience taught me to look beyond headline numbers, test assumptions, understand where money is going, and ask whether spending is delivering measurable value. I will bring that same financial discipline and independent judgment to the Board of Education.
MY FAMILY • MY COMMUNITY
We are raising our children here.
My wife, Dr. Forouzandeh Alavi, is an optometrist serving families across our communities. Together, we are raising our two sons, Parsa, 8, and Pasha, 6, here in Maple Ridge. Like so many parents, our lives revolve around our children, their schools, their activities, their well-being, and giving them every opportunity to grow.
That is why public education is not an abstract issue for me—it is part of our family’s everyday life. I believe every family deserves to be heard and every child deserves a school system that responds with care, honesty, accountability, and urgency.

My family’s journey to Canada.
We rebuilt our lives from zero—and education made a new beginning possible.
My parents fled Iran in 1994 because of persecution of the Bahá’í faith. Land belonging to both sides of my family had been passed down through generations in the village of Seysan, where our roots extend back approximately 400 years. That land was confiscated.
My parents left so their children could attend university, build better lives, and contribute to society. We immigrated to Canada in 1996 and have never returned to Iran. We rebuilt our lives from zero.
My father worked as a plumber and remains active. My mother operated a licensed daycare in Maple Ridge for more than 20 years, and I helped operate it as a licensed provider. It closed last year.
My family has lived in Maple Ridge since 2005. I completed high school, college, university, and graduate school in Canada.
That journey shaped my belief that education is more than a public service—it is a pathway to freedom, opportunity, and full participation in Canadian society. It is also why I believe every child and every family deserves to be treated with dignity, heard fairly, and given a genuine opportunity to succeed.

My career has crossed finance, accounting, commercial banking, real estate, construction, and business ownership. That range matters on a school board responsible for public funds, major facilities, staffing decisions, and long-term planning.

Magsen Realty Inc. — investment sales, land assemblies, valuation, feasibility analysis, negotiations, and transaction strategy.
Licensed Residential Builder
Seysan Development & Builders Inc. — project budgeting, development finance, permitting, procurement, cost control, and contractor coordination.
Commercial Account Manager
BMO Bank of Montreal — managed and grew a commercial portfolio, reviewed financial statements, assessed credit risk, and prepared lending and deal submissions.
